Notes:— Wight & Arnott (1834) described Impatiens diversifolia based on the collections of Klein, Wallich cat. n. 4749, Wallich cat. n. 4748 [b] and Wight cat. n. 457. From the Wallich catalogue it is clear that Wallich cat. n. 4749 is divided into three subheadings—[a] Impatiens diversifolia Herb. Heyne , [b] I. malabarica Herb. Madras (collected by Klein) and [3] I. diversifolia Herb. Wight. Pertaining to the specification given in protologue, twelve herbarium specimens were traced (CAL, E00174300 ‒ 00174302, K000694874, K000694875, K001039816 ‒ 001039820 and MH7389). The sheet K001039820, is better preserved and has dissected flower parts pasted on the sheet, and agrees well with the protologue. Therefore, it is designated here as the lectotype.

The K000694874 herbarium sheet is a mixed collection, the left side plant specimen belong to Klein from Quilon, whereas the middle is from Herb. Wight (Wight cat. n. 457 [a]). The right side specimens of this sheet belong to Herb. Wight, collected from Quilon in October 1835 is not a part of original material.
