Type species: Viridiflavoritia koxiae Huang & Horie sp. n., by monotypy and present designation

Diagnosis. Viridiflavoritia gen. n. is characterized by the following autapomorphies: i) 8 th sternite in male narrow U-shaped with triangular inner process, ii) phallus W-like with distal end elongated and pointed upwards and iii) female genitalia with antrum fused with rectangular ostial plates lateral to it. In addition, Viridiflavoritia gen. n. can be distinguished from the related genera Pidorus Walker, 1854 (sensu stricto, type species P. glaucopis Drury, 1773 ) ( Figs 7, 8 View FIGURES 1–8 , 12 View FIGURES 9–12 , 16 View FIGURES 13–16 , 19 View FIGURES 17–21 ) and Soritia Walker, 1854 sensu lato (type species Chalcosia leptalina Kollar, 1844 , now a junior synonym of Chalcosia pulchella Kollar, 1844 ) ( Figs 5, 6 View FIGURES 1–8 , 11 View FIGURES 9–12 , 15 View FIGURES 13–16 , 18, 21 View FIGURES 17–21 ) by the combination of following characters: i) forewing postdiscal band extending from costa to tornus, similar to that in Pidorus , while in Soritia the discal band, when present, is situated more basally and ends beyond tornus, ii) 8 th sternite in male thoroughly well-sclerotized, similar to that in Soritia , while in Pidorus is only strongly sclerotized near its posterior end and iii) female genitalia lacking appendix bursae, similar to the externally similar bicolor species-group of the genus Soritia , while in Pidorus the appendix bursae is present.

Etymology. The generic name Viridiflavoritia is the aggregate of the Latin word “Viridiflava” meaning “green and yellow”, referring to the two most outstanding colors of the type species, and the generic name Soritia , referring to its similarities with a member of that genus. Gender is feminine.
