Material examined (N=1). 1f, 14/IX/2003, St. 0 6 ( MZUESC #664).
Distribution. Western Atlantic – Central America, Venezuela, Surinam, and Brazil (from Pará to Santa Catarina) (Melo 1999).
Ecological notes. In shallow waters, on sandy bottoms and associated with the starfish Luidia senegalensis (Melo 1999) .
Previous records in Bahia. Veloso & Melo (1993), Almeida et al. (2007).
Remarks. M. angustus was included in the Brazilian Red List of threatened species as “vulnerable”, perhaps because its host, the starfish L. senegalensis , also figures in this list ( Amaral 2005).
