Diogenes planimanus Henderson, 1893

Persian Gulf. Iran (Moradmand 2007; present study). Iran. Hormozgan Province: Qeshm I. (Salakh), Bandar-Lengeh, Bandar-Mogham .

General distribution. Indo-West Pacific: Persian Gulf, Pakistan, India, Bay of Bengal, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore.

Habitat. Intertidal sandy beach, finding in splash zone.

Remark. Diogenes planimanus is very closely similar to D. custos and has been repeatedly confused with the latter (see Siddiqui et al. 2004; Moradmand 2007). Siddiqui et al. (2004) discussed the differences between these two species and distinguished two species using characteristics of the appendages of the second antenna, however, always some morphological variations are still seen in this character ( Siddiqui et al. 2004).
