DISTRIBUTION: Upper Amazon.

COMMENTS: Subgenus Proechimys . Not recognized by Nowak (1991:943), but listed by Corbet and Hill (1991:205). Listed as a subspecies of cayennensis (= guyannensis) by Cabrera (1961:519).
