Type material examined
Holotype male (on slide, NHMW), labeled": 1. " Philippinen (Böttcher) I. Polillo, 8.15"; 2. "Type"; 3. " Acmopolynema philippinensis male Soyka Type"; 4. "845". The male is intact, uncleared, and mounted laterally. Soyka (1956) mistakenly indicated the collection locality ( Polillo Island ) as " I. P. Lillo " but correctly indicated the collection date (viii.1915), also correcting (or misspelling?) the collector's name (as Böttscher).
Additional material examined PHILIPPINES, Luzon Island , Mt. Makiling, Baker [2 males, USNM] .

Redescription
FEMALE. Unknown.
MALE (holotype and additional specimens from Luzon Island). Body length (dry-mounted specimen from Luzon Island) about 2 mm. Body and appendages mostly light brown to brown; trabeculae, F2–F11, gastral terga, apices of mesotibia, metafemur, and about 2/3 of metatibia (distally) darker (brown to dark brown). Antennal flagellomeres very long ( Fig. 67 View FIGURES 67–70 ); scape very short, just slightly longer than pedicel, and with crossridges on inner surface, F1 shorter and much lighter than other flagellomeres. Scape, vertex, and pronotum with short, blunt setae. Mesosoma strongly elongate, with very long pronotum and mesoscutum. Pronotum entire, about as long as mesoscutum, smooth. Mesoscutum with evident cellulate sculpture, much longer than scutellum. Scutellum almost smooth, about as long as wide, without frenal foveae but with frenal line evident. Axilla with 2 or 3 foveae, axillar seta short and blunt. Propodeal submedial carinae reaching about half length of propodeum ( Fig. 68 View FIGURES 67–70 ). Forewing ( Fig. 69 View FIGURES 67–70 ) about 4.0 x as long as wide; marginal vein with 2 short, blunt dorsal macrochaetae; longest marginal cilia about 2/5 x greatest width of blade; disc with 3 brown spots, the apical spot more intense basally, reaching wing apex; modified setae of types A, F, and G present. Blade of hind wing slightly infumate with brown. Metacoxa very long, about as long as petiole; metacoxa and metafemur reticulate. Genitalia ( Fig. 70 View FIGURES 67–70 ) with long digiti.
Diagnosis
Member of the orientale species group. It is somewhat similar to A. tachikawai and especially to A. garemma sp. n. in having the distal brown spot on the forewing blade reaching the wing apex (although more as an infuscation, rather than a distinct band characteristic of A. tachikawai ). The male of A. philippinense is relatively easy to recognize by its antenna ( Fig. 67 View FIGURES 67–70 ) with a very short scape and very long flagellar segments, an elongated mesosoma (especially the pronotum and mesoscutum), relatively short propodeal submedial carinae extending to only about half length of the propodeum ( Fig. 68 View FIGURES 67–70 ), a peculiar maculation and chaetotaxy of the forewing ( Fig. 69 View FIGURES 67–70 ), and very long metacoxae and petiole.
