Current name: Physalis campechiana L. ( Solanaceae ).

Note: This appears to be an illegitimate renaming of P. campechiana L. (1759) . Nee (in Gómez-Pompa, Fl. Veracruz 49: 142. 1986) used P. arborescens , treating Houstoun material (BM) as “type”. However, this is very unlikely to be original material for the name, and a Miller plate is cited by Linnaeus in the synonymy of P. campechiana , so the Houstoun material cannot be treated as a neotype.
