Generitype of Breynia Linnaeus , nom. rej.
Current name: Capparis indica (L.) Fawc. & Rendle ( Capparaceae ).

Al-Shehbaz (in Howard, Fl. Lesser Antilles 4: 299. 1985) indicated Plumier’s t. 16 (Nov. Pl. Amer. 1703) as type (cited erroneously as from 1756). However, as Plumier included two species within his genus, his generic illustration cannot be assumed to apply only to " Breynia eleagni foliis", and is not original material for the name.
