Key to extant genera of Ommatinae

1. Vestiture consisting of slender, recumbent setae, which are yellowish brown in colour ( Figs 2 , 14 ). Maxillary and labial palps, when extended posteriorly, not reaching the eyes ( Fig. 15 ). Anterior third of gulamentum slightly convex without depression to accommodate maxillary and labial palps ( Fig. 15 )............................................... Omma Newman

- Vestiture including ribbed setae, which may be yellowish-brown or white in colour, sometimes mixed with spine-like processes. Maxillary and labial palps, when extended posteriorly, clearly reaching beyond eyes ( Figs 29 , 34 ). Anterior third of gulamentum variably depressed to accommodate maxillary and labial palps ( Figs 23, 24 )..................... Beutelius gen. nov.
