Discussion.
Stroobants (1976) considered the possibility that the specimen described by Gurjanova (1962) is a juvenile of Paracallisoma alberti . We consider it to be a valid species and placed in the subfamily Scopelocheirinae based on the columnar molar. We examined the syntype in the Australian Museum, but were unable to determine whether the molar has a triturating surface.
