Paracaliphytoptus gen. nov.
Type species. Paracaliphytoptus yangensis sp. nov.
Diagnosis. Body fusiform; prodorsal shield with broad frontal lobe, ventral surface of the frontal lobe with an wide furrow before setae f, opisthosoma with annuli subequal in number, the 6 th annulus from rear large in dorsal view and projecting slightly from body, opisthosoma with all usual setae; empodium entire; setae h1 present.
Etymology. The genus designation is derived from the combination of Para- and Caliphytoptus , to which the new genus is the most similar, masculine in gender.
Notes. The new genus is assigned to Eriophyoidea, Eriophyidae , Phyllocoptinae , Phyllocoptini . The new genus is similar to Caliphytoptus Keifer, 1938 , but can be differentiated from the latter by the dorsal opisthosoma with five ridges (dorsal opisthosoma with one ridge in Caliphytoptus ), a spine present underneath the frontal lobe (a narrow accessory process underneath the frontal lobe in Caliphytoptus ), and opisthosoma with subequal dorsal and ventral annuli (opisthosoma divided into broad dorsal annuli and narrow ventral annuli in Caliphytoptus ).
