Relation to host. Vagrant on leaf surface. No damage to the host was observed.
Etymology. The specific designation is combined from spiny and shield, and refers to the prodorsal shield with two large projections posteriorly.
Differential diagnosis. This species is similar to B. farnei De Lillo, 1988 , but can be differentiated from the latter by prodorsal shield with two projections posteriorly (prodorsal shield with a large posterior flange in B. farnei ), empodium 7-rayed (empodium 5-rayed in B. farnei ), and prosternal apodeme absent (prosternal apodeme present in B. farnei ).
