Type species. Chiton cinereus Linnaeus, 1767 sensu Montagu, 1803 (misapplication of name, subsequently designated by Gray, 1847) = Leptochiton asellus ( Gmelin, 1791) View in CoL (see Sirenko, 2001, p. 41).
Distribution. Worldwide; Upper Jurassic ( Sirenko, 2013) - recent.
