Type Locality: Australia, Queensland, Mt. Spurgeon.

Vernacular Names: Cinereous Ringtail.

Distribution: North Queensland, tablelands from Mt. Carbine north to Thornton Peak.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (nt). Localized but not uncommon.

Discussion: Separated from P. herbertensis , and perhaps not even a sister species, by Kirsch et al. (1997).
