Diagnosis. Head not elongate in lateral view. Frontal vitta yellow with two narrow black stripes in lateral margins anteriorly and triangular blackish-brown posteriorly. Fronto-orbital plate shiny black. Antennal base inflated; lateral and distal margins rounded in dorsal view. First flagellomere lanceolate with arista apical. Scutum dorsally with two white pruinescent stripes, separated by narrow median brown stripe that narrows and fades after transverse suture. Supra-alar seta present.
Male. Body length 9.0– 9.8 mm. Wing length 7.7–8.5 mm and width 2.0– 2.2 mm. Brown with partly yellow head and thorax ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 A).
Head. Not elongate in lateral view; dorsal length 1.6–1.8 mm and width 1.5–1.7 mm. Frontal vitta yellow with two narrow black stripes on lateral margins anteriorly and triangular blackish-brown posteriorly ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 C); frontoorbital plate shiny black; two anterior pairs of fronto-orbital setae hair-like and posterior pair subequal to postocellar seta. Postocellar seta convergent; length twice transverse diameter of ocellar tubercle; inner vertical seta slightly convergent, and equal to outer vertical seta; outer vertical seta straight and 60% length of postocellar seta. Face wide with ventral margin widely rounded. Genal seta slender and subequal to postocellar seta. Postgena wide and rounded posteriorly. Occiput height 2.7–3.0 times length ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 D). Antennal base brown, rounded and inflated; margins rounded in dorsal view. Antenna length 60–80% length of head. Scape yellow; 0.2–0.3 mm long. Pedicel elongate; yellow and darkened in dorsal margin; with outstanding dorso-apical seta; 0.4–0.5 mm long; inner process of pedicel triangular, with pointed apex. First flagellomere lanceolate; 0.7–0.8 mm long; length 2.7 times maximum width. Arista apical with dense white pubescence on proximal half and brown pubescence on distal half.
Thorax Scutum dorsally with two white pruinescent stripes, separated by narrow median brown stripe that narrows and fades after transverse suture; pleuron same color as scutum dorsally. Anterior notopleural seta hairlike and very slender. Posterior notopleural seta, same length as scutellar seta. Supra-alar seta subequal to postalar seta. Postalar and dorsocentral setae length, 40% length of scutellar seta. Scutellum elongate; with median yellow stripe almost 80% width of scutellum; scutellar seta straight, 40% length of scutellum. Proepisternum with three or four short anteroventral setulae. Katepisternum with two pruinescent patches on dorsal and ventral margins; katepisternal seta absent. Katatergite protuberant; length 1.5 times height. Metepimeron yellow or same color as pleuron.
Legs. Mid coxa with two lateral spine-like setae. Femora subshiny yellowish-brown with median and distomedial rings; mid femur anteriorly with four or five median setae.
Wing ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 F). Basicosta with slender ventral seta and inconspicuous dorsal seta. Halter whitish-yellow.
Abdomen. Brown and velvety; wide yellow dorsomedian stripe from tergite 1 to tergite 5. Syntergite 7+8 shiny brown. Epandrium yellowish-brown.
Female. Similar to male, differs as follows: body length 7.0– 7.7 mm ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 B). Wing length 5.9–8.3 mm and width 1.6–2.2 mm. Body setae shorter and slender. Fore coxa without anterolateral setae. Mid coxa with one lateral seta. Oviscape yellowish-brown with dark brown median stripe dorsally; length 2.3 times maximum width.
Comments. Telostylus vittatus Cresson, 1912 was indicated as synonym of G. (G.) filosus by the same author ( Cresson, 1930) and posteriorly stated as a junior synonym of G. (G.) filosus by Hennig (1937). In the same work by Hennig, was described G. ochreus from one female holotype and five paratypes, which correspond to the female holotype of T. vittatus deposited in the ASNP. After examine the material referred by Cresson (1912, 1930) and Hennig (1937), we conclude that (1) T. vittatus is not a synonym of G. (G.) filosus and can be differentiated by the antennal base inflated with rounded margins, head not elongate in lateral view and supra-alar seta present (2) G. ochreus is a junior synonym of T. vittatus and (3) the specimens referred by Cresson (1930) and deposited in the USNM, belong to G. (G.) filosus , therefore, the distribution data correspond to this species. We also examined material identified and referred by Aczél (1961), whom erroneously identified and redescribed specimens G. (G.) filosus as G. ochreus . The male is described for the first time with respresentatives from Peru and Brazil.
Material examined. Type material. Holotype: Telostylus vittatus Cresson, 1912 (♀) (examined in photographs, fig. 17D). Guyana, Bartica (Cuyuni-Mazaruni Region 7, Bartica, ± 6°24'N, 58°38'W) [ ASNP].
Holotype: Glyphidops ochreus Hennig, 1937 (♀) ( Fig. 17 View FIGURE 17 E). Bolivia, Mapiri, 28.iii.1903, Sarampioni, 700m / Coll. Schnuse/ Typus, Glyphidops ochreus, Hennig [ ZMHB] (the specimen has only one fore leg, but in general good order). Paratypes: 1 ♀, same data as holotype, except / Paratypus, Glyphidops ochreus Hennig [ ZMHB]; 2 ♀, Mapiri, ii.1903, S. Carlos, 800m [ ZMHB]; 1 ♀, Peru, Meshagua/ Paratypus, Glyphidops ochreus, Hennig [ ZMHB] (one female from Peru, Meshagua was not examined because it is absent from the collection).

PERU: 2 ♂ 1 ♀, Madre de Dios: Manu, Erika (near Salvación), 550m, 5–6.ix.1988, A. Freidberg ( USNM); 1 ♂, Madre de Dios: Tambopata, 30 km SW Puerto Maldonado, 12°50´S, 69°20´W, 290m, 15–31.x.1982, J. Anderson ( USNM).
