Notes
This crustacean looks much like J. californiensis ( Baba and Wicksten 1997). If so, it constitutes a major range extension, because previous records of the species are no further south than the Gulf of California, Mexico. To date, there is only one species known of Janetogalathea , but the animal in the photograph differs from those previously described, because of the slender fingers of the chelae, without spines. This might be a variant of J. californiensis or something undescribed. Fig. 9 View Figure 9
