Eclipta faurei (Peñaherrera-Leiva & Tavakilian, 2003) View in CoL
Ommata (Eclipta) faurei Peñaherrera-Leiva & Tavakilian, 2003: 198 View in CoL , figs. 25, 47; Monné, 2005: 488 (cat.); Monné & Hovore, 2005: 121 (checklist); 2006: 121 (checklist).
The general appearance of Eclipta faurei View in CoL is very different from that of Eclipta flavicollis (Bates, 1873) View in CoL (type species of the genus): body shape; pronotal shape; elytral shape; legs (mainly hind ones). Those differences suggest that the species belong to a different and new genus. However, we examined a single female (without part of abdomen). Thus, the species is provisionally maintained in Eclipta View in CoL until it is possible to study more specimens (mainly males).
Eclipta faurei View in CoL was described and it is known only from French Guiana. It is now recorded from Brazil (Rondônia) for the first time.
Material examined. BRAZIL, Rondônia: “Linea C20 off B65 at the Rio Pardo – 60 km S. Ariquemes”, female, XI.30.1991, Heydon col. ( LGBC).
