Examined material. 1 female, Fars: Zagros Mts., Sangar, 21.V.2009, J. Dalihod ( CLB) ; 1 female, Fars: Sepidan (from wild pear), 13.V.1995 ( CLB).

Remarks. Schenk (2003) described and illustrated this species from SW Iran (Buyer Amad [= Kuhgiloyeh & Boyerahmad]: east Kuhgiluye, 5 km E Sisaht, 30.51ºN, 51.30ºE, J. Prochazka and I. Jenis); the same locality is quoted by Fujita (2010). Schenk (2003) compared his new species to D. vavrai , a species now synonymized with D. peyronis . Dorcus prochazkai is a rare and interesting species, endemic to Iran. Male specimens only have one tooth on the inner side of the mandibles, while D. peyronis has two teeth.
