Remarks. Melzer (1935) described L. humilis based on two specimens from Brazil (São Paulo, São Paulo, “Parque do Estado,” collected by Melzer; and São Paulo, Alto da Serra [currently, Paranapiacaba], collected by F. Ohaus). According to Monné (2024b): “ Syntypes locality— Syntypes: Brazil, São Paulo: São Paulo (Mato do Governo). (MZSP).” Tavakilian & Chevillote also reported the species as having been described base on syntypes: “ Syntypes (2) / ex collection J. Melzer / Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo / BRÉSIL / São Paulo / São Paulo (Parque do Estado), Alto da Serra / 1 décembre 1929 / J. Melzer (São Paulo), F. Ohaus (Alto da Serra, 7 novembre 1926.” However, Melzer (1935) made it clear there was a holotype (translated): “Hab. state of São Paulo: Capital, Parque do estado, collected by the author; Alto da Serra, Dr. F. Ohaus leg. Type in the collection of the author.” Therefore, the holotype is the specimen collected by Melzer.
Gilmour (1959) provided a new name, L. melzeri , to eliminate the homonym between L. humilis Melzer and L. humilis Bates, 1863 . Gilmour (1965) listed L. melzeri in the subgenus Lepturges (Lepturges) .
Monné (1976) transferred L. melzeri to Urgleptes Dillon, 1956 (translated): “Due to the position of the lateral spines of the prothorax, away from the posterior angles and the continuous basal row of pronotum points behind the tubercles, we transferred the following species to the genus Urgleptes : Urgleptes melzeri ( Gilmour, 1959) , comb. n.; U. miser (Bates, 1863) , comb. n. and U. puerulus (Melzer, 1932) , comb. n. ” However, although the lateral tubercle of the prothorax is not very close to the posterolateral angles, the row of punctures near the posterior margin of the pronotum does not follows toward the sides of the prothorax ( Figs 54–56 View FIGURES 52–56 ). Behind the lateral tubercles of the prothorax there are no punctures, but very small tubercles depressed centrally ( Fig. 55 View FIGURES 52–56 ). Furthermore, as usually in Lepturges , there is a depression on each side of the pronotum close to the lateral tubercles of the prothorax, where the row of punctures ends. Olivier et al. (2024) transferred U. melzeri to Lepturges (Lepturges) Bates, 1863 .
Currently, it is known from Brazil (Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo) ( Monné 2024b; Tavakilian & Chevillotte 2023). The species is also known from the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, a state not listed in Monné (2024b). Tavakilian & Chevillotte (2023) listed it to São Francisco de Paula ( Buck 1959), a city in Rio Grande do Sul, but did not mention the state.
