Distribution and Habitat ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 ): — Senecio pindilicensis occurs in the Andes of Peru and Ecuador, at elevations of 2500–4000 m.

Note —According to the protologue of S. mochensis , its leaves are all petiolate, stems minute pilose and phyllaries number ranges from 12–13. These characters were used to differentiate the species from S. pindilicensis ; nevertheless, the lectotype and isolectotype of S. mochensis shows a variability in the hairiness of stems and the number of phyllaries (12–14); also its distal leaves are sessile, while the lower leaves are petiolate. Consequently, S. mochensis is here considered a synonym of S. pindilicensis .
