Comments: N. atincta was recorded for Brazil by d’Almeida (1992, 1993). Although the MNRJ’s collection has material from Rio de Janeiro State, including the localities studied by d’Almeida, it does not have representatives of this species. Similarly, the DZUP and MZUSP’s collections also do not have any specimen of N. atincta , which could indicate an identification error. Neomuscina atincta can be distinguished mainly by the two median anterodorsal setae on the hind tibia. Here we present only the redescription of the holotype, and do not provide drawings. The material collected by d’Almeida was not seen.
Type material examined: Holotype: male; label: red, handwritten “ Holotype male / Neomuscina / atincta / Snyder”; label: white, printed “Clay Colorado Is. / Canal Zone / October 1942 / J. Zetek” ( USNM). Type-locality: Clay Colorado Is., Panama.
Geographical distribution:? Brazil (? Rio de Janeiro), Costa Rica and Panama (type-locality).
