Protologue citation:—“ Thymus adriaticus Vel. in herb. bot. Inst. Wien, ined. [...] Dalmatien: Insel Lussin: Bei Lussinpiccolo (Bornm. a. 1911); Insel Lesina (Bornm. a. 1911)”.
Nomenclatural notes:— Three syntypes in W (W-Ronniger 1997-0000518!) and JE (barcodes JE 00011438! [digital photo], JE 00011439! [digital photo]) could be verified.
Taxonomic notes:—In our concept Th. adriaticus is just a variant with holotrichous stem (hairy all around) of Th. longicaulis Presl (1826 : XXXVII) subsp. longicaulis .
