TYPE LOCALITY: Probably Senegambia .
DISTRIBUTION: Mauritania to Sudan; formerly Egypt to Tunisia.
STATUS: CITES - Appendix I; IUCN - Endangered.
SYNONYMS: addax, gibbosa, mytilopes, suturosa.
COMMENTS: Nearly extinct in wild ( East, 1990).
