TYPE LOCALITY: India, Kashmir, Astor .
DISTRIBUTION: Uzbekistan, Tadzhikistan, and NE Iran to Afghanistan, Pakistan, and NW India; Oman (introduced?).
STATUS: CITES - Appendix I; U.S. ESA - Endangered as O. v. vignei .
SYNONYMS: arabica , arkal, blanfordi , bochariensis, cycloceros, dolgopolovi, punjabiensis , severtzovi, varentsowi.
COMMENTS: Hybridizes with orientalis (= aries ) in C Iran; see Nadler et al. (1971b) and Valdez et al. (1978).
