TYPE LOCALITY: Sudan, Haraza, "probably Kordofan."
DISTRIBUTION: Formerly Western Sahara and Tunisia to Egypt; Mauritania to Sudan; survives only in Chad.
STATUS: CITES - Appendix I; IUCN - Endangered.
SYNONYMS: algazel , ensicornis, nubica, senegalensis, tao.
COMMENTS: Includes tao; see Ansell (1972:48). The name algazel Oken, 1816 , was declared invalid by Opinion 417 of the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature (1956b).
