DISTRIBUTION: Western Sahara to W Egypt; Mali to Sudan; introduced to USA, N Mexico and Spain.
STATUS: CITES - Appendix II; IUCN - Vulnerable.
SYNONYMS: angusi, blainei, fassini, ornata , sahariensis, tragelaphus.
COMMENTS: Reviewed by G.G. Gray and Simpson (1980, Mammalian Species, 144).
