TYPE LOCALITY: South Africa, Cape of Good Hope .
DISTRIBUTION: Angola to S Africa; thence north through Botswana, S Zaire, Malawi, Zambia, and Tanzania to SE Sudan and SW Ethiopia.
SYNONYMS: alces , canna, barbatus , billingae, kaufmanni , livingstonii, niediecki, oreas , pattersonianus, selousi , triangularis.
