TYPE LOCALITY: Indonesia, Sulawesi (= Celebes) .
DISTRIBUTION: Sulawesi.
STATUS: CITES - Appendix I; U.S. ESA and IUCN - Endangered.
SYNONYMS: anoa , celebensis , fergusoni, platycerus.
COMMENTS: Includes anoa ; see Groves (1982e). Formerly included in Anoa but placed in genus Bubalus , subgenus Anoa by Groves (1969b:3).
