TYPE LOCALITY: Africa, near Lake Chad .
DISTRIBUTION: Formerly from Morocco, Western Sahara,Mauritaniaand Senegaleastto Egypt and Sudan. Now extinct in Mauritania, Senegal, Morocco,AlgeriaandEgypt; survives at least in Mali, Niger, Chad, Burkina Faso and Sudan .
STATUS: CITES - Appendix I; U.S. ESA- Endangered asG. d.lozanoiand G. d.mhorr; IUCN - Endangered.
SYNONYMS: addra, damergouensis, doria , lozanoi, mhorr, nanguer, occidentalis, orientalis , permista, reducta, ruficollis , weidholzi.
