TYPE LOCALITY: India, Assam, Manipur .
DISTRIBUTION: Manipur (N India), Burma, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hainan Isl ( China); now much reduced in numbers or extinct in several of these countries.
STATUS: CITES - Appendix I; U.S. ESA - Endangered; IUCN - Endangered as C. e. eldii and C. e. siamensis, otherwise Vulnerable.
SYNONYMS: acuticauda, acuticornis , brucei, cornipes, frontalis , hainanus, lyratus, platyceros , siamensis, thamin.
