First faunistic record for Croatia: this study
Distribution in Croatia: A large population of the species was recently found in the Pannonian region, Vrbanja
County (near Strošinci village), close to Jamena, the nearest known locality in Vojvodina, Serbia ( Pavićević et al. 2014) (Ivković pers. comm).
Distribution in Europe: Along the lower courses of Sava and Danube rivers, currently known from the Serbian/ Croatian/Bosnian border area (see above), via Serbia ( Pavićević et al. 2014) to Romania (Chobanov et al. 2016).
IUCN Red List status: Endangered (Europe), Near Threatened (EU28) ( Hochkirch et al. 2016).
Taxonomic note: Taxonomic relationship of Z. amplipennis and Z. marmorata ( Fieber, 1853) is unclear: populations east of Croatia are named Z. amplipennis and west of Croatia Z. marmorata . The latter could simply be a relict westermost population of the same species, expected to be found on other similar localities along the Sava River.
