Heterospilus (Heterospilus) jianfengensis sp. nov.
( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 )
Description. Female. Body length 3.1 mm; fore wing length 2.5 mm.
Head. Antennae slender, filiform, 25-segmented. Scape 1.2 times as long as maximum width. First flagellar segment 6.0 times as long as its apical width, as long as second segment. Penultimate segment 3.0 times longer than wide, 0.6 times as long as first flagellar segment, 0.9 times as long as apical segment. Width of head 1.4 times its median length. Head behind eyes (dorsal view) distinctly and roundly narrowed. Eye 2.8 times as long as temple (dorsal view). Ocelli arranged in almost equilateral triangle. POL: OD: OOL = 2: 3: 7. Vertex and frons striate. Vertex with sparse, short setae. Face mostly smooth, its width 1.1 times height of eye, 1.3 times height of face and clypeus combined. Eye glabrous, 1.2 times as high as broad. Malar space 0.5 times height of eye, equal to basal width of mandible. Malar suture absent. Occipital carina complete dorsally, not fused with hypostomal carina ventrally.
Mesosoma. Length 1.8 times its height. Mesoscutum granulate with finely striation, highly and perpendicularly elevated above pronotum, with very sparse setae along notauli. Notauli shallow, sparsely and distinctly crenulate. Scutellum smooth. Prescutellar depression deep, rather long, with single distinct median carina, 0.5 times as long as scutellum. Subalar depression rather wide, coarsely rugose-striate. Precoxal sulcus deep, smooth, running along anterior 0.7 of lower part of mesopleuron. Propodeum with distinctly delineated by carinae and long basolateral areas, with delineated areola, basal carina short; basolateral areas almost smooth and distinctly rugulose-reticulate along carinae; remaining part of propodeum coarsely rugose-areolate.
Wings. Fore wing 3.1 times as long as maximum width. Vein r arising before middle of pterostigma. 3-SR forming very obtuse angle with r. 3-SR: r: SR1 = 11: 7: 42. First discal cell 1.8 times as long as maximum width. 1- SR+M distinctly curved. m-cu postfurcal. Hind wing: M+CU: 1-M = 10: 13. m-cu almost straight, oblique towards base of wing, antefurcal, pigmented.
Legs. Hind coxa smooth dorsally. Hind femur finely striate dorsally, 3.8 times as long as wide. Hind tibia with long, sparse setae dorsally; length of these setae 1.0–1.2 times maximum width of hind tibia. Hind tarsus as long as hind tibia. Hind basitarsus 0.4 times as long as second-fifth segments combined; second tarsal segment 0.8 times as long as basitarsus, 1.4 times as long as fifth segment (except pretarsus).
Metasoma. Almost as long as mesosoma and head combined. First tergite with more or less distinct, weakly and curvedly convergent posteriorly dorsal carinae, densely and coarsely striate, with fine reticulation between them; apical width of tergite 2.3 times its minimum width, length 0.8 times its maximum width. Suture between second and third tergites deep and weakly curved. Second tergite entirely densely and coarsely striate, median length of tergite 0.5 times its basal width, 1.1 times length of third tergite. Third and fourth tergites in basal half striate, fifth tergite with short striation basally. Remaining tergites smooth. Ovipositor sheath 0.9 times as long as metasoma and 0.5 times as long as fore wing.
Colour. Head brownish yellow. Mesosoma almost brownish yellow, mesopleuron reddish brown, propodeum dark. Metasoma almost brownish yellow, first-fourth tergites dark. Antennae dark brownish yellow to black, two basal segments brownish yellow. Palpi pale yellow. Legs brownish yellow, all coxae and trochanters pale yellow. Ovipositor sheath dark brown. Wings faintly infuscate. Pterostigma pale yellow.
Male. Unknown.
Material examined. Holotype: Ƥ, China, Hainan Prov., Jianfengling, 7.VI.2007, Zeng Jie, No. 200702595 ( ZJUH).
Diagnosis. This new species is similar to H. alboapicalis Belokobylskij , but differs in having the apical segments of antenna dark, face mostly smooth, occipital carina not fused with hypostomal carina ventrally, hind coxa smooth dorsally, apical width of first tergite wide, second tergite long, and pterostigma pale yellow.
Etymology. From the name of type locality of species. Distribution. China (Hainan).
