Prunus gyirongensis Y.H.Tong & N.H.Xia View in CoL , nom. nov.
Replaced name: — Padus integrifolia T.T.Yu & T.C.Ku (1984: 212) , non Prunus integrifolia (C. Presl) Walpers , non Prunus integrifolia Sargent (1905: 531) .
Type:— CHINA. Xizang: Gyirong, Zacun, in forest by streams, alt. 3100 m, 17 July 1975, Qinghai-Xizang Expedition 6959 (holotype PE!, isotypes KUN!, HNWP!).
Prunus gyirongensis View in CoL is closely related to Prunus cornuta (Wall. ex Royle 1839: 207) Steudel (1841: 403) View in CoL , but differs in velutinous calyx and petioles and the nearly entire leaves with velutum on midvein or basally on secondary veins. It is also similar to Prunus obtusata Koehne (1913: 66) View in CoL , but the latter has glabrous petioles and leaves with glandular serrate margin. Prunus gyirongensis View in CoL is endemic to Xizang, where it is known from five collections only, all from forests by steams in Gyirong County. A full description of the species is given in Yu et al. (1984) and Lu et al. (2003).
