Diagnosis. Adult ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 6-11 ) wingspan 14.0–16.0 mm. This species is characterized in the male genitalia by the sub-rectangular valva with a widened flatly truncate apex and the sinuate lateral processes of the juxta directed inward almost by a right angle ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 18-23 ), and in the female genitalia by the elliptical corpus bursae with two signa. It is superficially similar to N. acriella Park, 2002 and the differences between them are stated in the preceding species.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 31 View FIGURES 31-34 ). Abdominal sternite VIII membranous medially, sclerotized anteromedially, sparsely setose, concave medially on posterior margin. Apophyses anteriores approximately 3/5 length of apophyses posteriores. Ductus bursae narrowed posteriorly, broadened toward corpus bursae, approximately as long as corpus bursae; ductus seminalis arising from middle of ductus bursae, relatively narrow. Corpus bursae large elliptical; with two signa: one nearly rounded, at middle of corpus bursae, with dense denticles; another elliptical, smaller, at about anterior 1/4 of corpus bursae, with a heavily sclerotized horizontal ridge at middle.

Distribution. China (Jiangsu, Zhejiang).

Remarks. Nosphistica metalychna was described originally based on a single male collected from Nanjing, China. The female of the species is described for the first time in this study.

Park (2002) described N. fuscolepis from Taiwan, China, and distinguished it from N. metalychna ( Meyrick, 1935) by the strongly concave termen, the comma-shaped discocellular stigma on the forewing and the uniformly slender, medially bent aedeagus in the male genitalia ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 18-23 ). Based on the specimens collected from Zhejiang, China, N. fuscolepis can hardly be separated from N. metalychna in both superficial and male genital characters except the aedeagus that looks slenderer. Nosphistica fuscolepis was described on two males, and the female remains unknown. Further, N. fuscolepis is overlapped in the geographical distribution with N. metalychna in China. Thus, we excluded N. fuscolepis in this paper, waiting for confirmation by a molecular study or when female specimens are available.
