(lectotype LE-00008098!, here designated, isolectotypes B-20-0000134!/-20-0000135!, GH-00020411! [fragment of B], NY-00148670, US-00066247! [labeled “ Karsten 49 ”], W!).

Distribution and habitat: — Venezuela, Cordillera de la Costa, in cloud forests at 1000–2200 m.

Remarks: —Previously known as Cyathea gibbosa (Klotzsch 1842: 542) Domin (1929a: 262) ( Lehnert 2014a). “ Alsophila farinosa Mettenius ” (1864: 344) is an earlier nom. nud.
