Veraguas: Cerro Tute, ca. 2 km N of Santa Fé, along ridge trail to summit, N of Escuela Primaria Alto de Piedra, 08°31’N, 81°04’W, 900–1000 m, 30 November–1 December 1991, R.C. Moran 4030 (holotype MO-102959–102962!, isotypes PMA n.v., UC-1586248!, US-00386072!).

Distribution and habitat: — Costa Rica and Panama at 550–1250 m in humid montane forests.

Remarks: —Reports from Ecuador base on wrongly determined specimens of Cyathea hemiepiphytica R.C.Moran.
