Stars and IUCN threat categories

The numbers of species in each IUCN threat category for Trinidad and Tobago, before and after recommendations made in this checklist, are summarised in Table 5. Before our recent additions, there had been a considerable underrecording of Data Deficient, Least Concern and Near Threatened species, as most conservationists have been generally more concerned with reporting positively endangered species to IUCN.
