Genus Makraleptochelia Araújo-Silva & Larsen 2012 View in CoL

Diagnosis. Females without tubercle-mounted setae (or setose tubercles) on meri of posterior pereopods, distinct cap-like flagellar segment on the antennule present, dorsal margin of cheliped carpus with setae. Cephalothorax about 1.1 times as long as wide, without demarcation of second thoracomere. Cheliped coxal sclerite with three setae, carpus with setose dorsal margin. Ischium of pereopod 1 with two setae; dorsoproximal seta on basis of pereopod 1 shorter than basis width, longer distal seta of carpus of pereopod 1 shorter than carpus, dactylus of pereopod 1 without proximal seta; two setae on ischia of pereopods 2 and 3, propodi of posterior pereopods with dorsodistal setae, uropod exopod one-segmented. Body length about 5.5 times width. Males without mid-ventral carpal or propodal apophyses on cheliped; dactyli of the posterior pereopods with distal setules. All pereonites longer than wide. Propodus of cheliped not gaping, without distal tooth-like apophysis in gap between fingers.

Recently described by Araújo-Silva & Larsen (2012); distinguished in being without a demarcation of the second thoracomere on the carapace, having the uropod exopod 1-segmented, the ischium of pereopod 1 with two setae, without tubercle-mounted setae (or setose tubercles) on meri of the posterior pereopods, with a distal cap-like flagellar segment on the antennule. The males are extremely elongate, with pereonites 3 to 6 about four times as long as wide (wider than long in the other konariin genera), with distal setules on the dactyli of the posterior pereopods. The cheliped of the male is similar to that of Pseudoleptochelia (see below).
