Genus Bassoleptochelia Błażewicz-Paszkowycz & Bamber, 2012 View in CoL

Diagnosis. Females without tubercle-mounted setae (or setose tubercles) on meri of the posterior pereopods, distinct flagellar segment on the antennule present, dorsal margin of cheliped carpus with setae. Cephalothorax 1.4 times as long as wide, without demarcation of second thoracomere. Cheliped carpus with fine setae along dorsal margin. Ischium of pereopod 1 with one seta; dorsoproximal seta on basis of pereopod 1 shorter than basis width, longer distal seta of carpus of pereopod 1 shorter than carpus, dactylus of pereopod 1 without proximal seta; two setae on ischia of pereopods 2 and 3, propodi of posterior pereopods with dorsodistal setae, uropod exopod onesegmented. Body length normally 6.4 times width. Males without mid-ventral carpal apophysis on cheliped, propodal ventral apophysis absent; dactyli of the posterior pereopods without distal setules. All pereonites wider than long. Propodus of cheliped gaping, with distal tooth-like apophysis in gap between fingers.

Recently described by Błażewicz-Paszkowycz & Bamber (2012); distinguished in being without a demarcation of the second thoracomere on the carapace, having the uropod exopod 1-segmented, the ischium of pereopod 1 with one seta, without tubercle-mounted setae (or setose tubercles) on meri of the posterior pereopods, with a distal caplike flagellar segment on the antennule. The male cheliped has no ventral apophyses on the carpus or propodus, but has a widely gaping chela with a distal propodal apophysis between the fingers, and the male is without distal setules on the dactyli of the posterior pereopods.
