Subfamily Konariinae View in CoL nom. nov.
Diagnosis. Female: Carapace with either a distinct dorsal suture demarcating the second thoracomere, or demarcation by separated plates in the carapace, or a hardly expressed faint line only or no demarcation. Antennular peduncle stout, proximal article typically about twice as long as wide or less. Cheliped basis with outer seta mounted on a pedestal (setose tubercle), merus with numerous (≥4) elongate ventral setae, outer face of carpus extended distally into a “cuff” into which the propodus fits when reflexed, outer distal margin of propodus extended into apophysis bearing strong seta (e.g. arrowed on Fig. 4B View FIGURE 4 ). Antennal articles 2 and 3 each with dorsodistal seta but no spine. Maxilliped basis with 2 to 6 distal setae. Coxae of anterior pereopods with long seta. Unguis of pereopod 1 longer than dactylus; meri of pereopods with setae rather than spines; bases of pereopods 4 to 6 stout, about twice as long as wide or less; carpi of pereopods 4 to 6 with three distal spines. Uropod exopod one- or two-segmented. Male: Antennule with multi-segmented flagellum (6 to 11 segments all bearing aesthetascs), the third peduncle article overhanging the proximal flagellar segment. Cheliped subchelate without carpal cuff, but with tuft of setae on merus; antennal articles 2 and 3 with setae rather than spines or spine-like apophyses; bases of posterior pereopods slender; no demarcation of second thoracomere on carapace.
