Type Locality: Bolivia, Yungas between Secure and Isiboro rivers.
Vernacular Names: White-throated Round-eared Bat.
Subspecies: :
Subspecies Lophostoma silvicolum subsp. silvicolum d'Orbigny 1836
Subspecies Lophostoma silvicolum subsp. centralis Davis and Carter 1978
Subspecies Lophostoma silvicolum subsp. laephotis Thomas 1910
Subspecies Lophostoma silvicolum subsp. occidentalis Davis and Carter 1978
Distribution: Honduras to Bolivia, NE Argentina, Guianas, and E Brazil.
Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc) as Tonatia silvicola .
Discussion: Includes laephotis and amblyotis; see Davis and Carter (1978). See Medellín and Arita (1989). The species name for this taxon was formerly spelled silvicola when used in Tonatia , but must be spelled silvicolum when combined with Lophostoma , which is a Greek neuter noun. These names have sometimes been spelled sylvicola and sylvicolum, but I retain the original spelling here.
