Type Locality: Bolivia, Yungas between Secure and Isiboro rivers.

Vernacular Names: White-throated Round-eared Bat.

Distribution: Honduras to Bolivia, NE Argentina, Guianas, and E Brazil.

Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc) as Tonatia silvicola .

Discussion: Includes laephotis and amblyotis; see Davis and Carter (1978). See Medellín and Arita (1989). The species name for this taxon was formerly spelled silvicola when used in Tonatia , but must be spelled silvicolum when combined with Lophostoma , which is a Greek neuter noun. These names have sometimes been spelled sylvicola and sylvicolum, but I retain the original spelling here.
