Asartodes hyalodiscella Caradja, 1927: 396 . Type locality: Sichuan, China.

Catoptria hyalodiscella (Caradja) : Bleszynski, 1962: 18.

Chrysoteuchia hyalodiscella (Caradja) : Bleszynski, 1965, In: Amsel et al. (eds.): 165, pl. 8 fig. 99, pl. 48 fig. 99.

Materials examined. China: 2 ɗɗ, 2 ΨΨ, Pingheliang, Ningshan (33°11́N, 108°12́E), Shaanxi Province, 2100–2400 m, 10.vi.1987, leg. Houhun Li; 2 ɗɗ, 2 ΨΨ, Ningshan, Shaanxi Province, 8/ 12.vii.1990, leg. Jinfu Li.

Description. Adult ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 14 – 16 ): Forewing length 7.0–10.0 mm. Frons and vertex blackish brown. Labial palpus blackish brown; outer side of first segment yellowish white; ventral surface of first and second segments tinged with long and thin pale brown scales. Maxillary palpus blackish brown. Antenna blackish brown, ciliated with white ventrally. Patagium, tegula and thorax blackish brown. Forewing blackish brown, with three black spots in medial area: first one set near upper corner of cell, second one at middle of fold, third one at basal two fifths of dorsum; subterminal fascia blackish brown, outcurved at anterior two fifths, incurved at posterior one fifth; cilia blackish brown. Hindwing white except basally with blackish brown scales; blackish brown along costa and termen, forming distinct broad band; cilia pale brown in basal one third, white in distal two thirds; entirely white on dorsal margin. Legs greyish white, pale brown on outer side. Abdomen blackish brown.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 14 – 16 ): Uncus long and thin, straight, tapering to pointed apex. Gnathos about three fourths length of uncus, gradually narrowed to pointed apex. Tegumen about twice as long as gnathos. Valva broad and short, slightly narrowed towards rounded apex; costa with nearly rectangular protuberance in basal half, inner side of protuberance situated small thumblike process. Sacculus with sclerotized nearly S-shaped pleat medially. Pseudosaccus rhombic. Saccus broad, concave at middle anteriorly. Juxta rhombic. Phallus nearly straight, slightly longer than valva; cornuti consisting of one row of small spines in distal half.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 16 View FIGURES 14 – 16 ). Tergite VIII about twice as long as apophysis posterioris. Ostium bursae about half width of segment VIII. Antrum funnel-shaped; anterior one third armed with sclerotized pleats. Ductus bursae long and thin, membranous, slightly curved; ductus seminalis arising from middle of ductus bursae. Corpus bursae ovate; signum small and rounded, placed at posterior one third.

Distribution. China (Shaanxi, Sichuan).

Remarks. Chrysoteuchia hyalodiscella varies in the wing patterns. The specimens collected from Sichuan Province have three clear blackish brown spots in the medial area of the forewings, the subterminal fascia is conspicuous, and the dorsal margin of the hindwing is covered with dense blackish brown scales ( Bleszynski 1965). Whereas the spots and the subterminal fascia are inconspicuous in the specimens collected from Shaanxi Province, and the dorsal margin of the hindwing is covered with sparse blackish brown scales.

The female of C. hyalodiscella is described for the first time herein. It resembles C. lolotiella ( Caradja, 1927) by having a thick ostium bursae, the absence of the lamella vaginalis and the corpus bursae with a single signum. However, the wing patterns and the male genitalia of the two species are conspicuously different. In C. hyalodiscella , the median area of hindwing is white, and the costal protuberance is nearly straight dorsally in the male genitalia; whereas the hindwing of C. lolotiella is blackish brown entirely, and the costal protuberance is distinctively angled dorsally in the male genitalia.
