Andrena hirticeps Eversmann, 1852 View in CoL
Andrena hirticeps Eversmann, 1852: 17 View in CoL , ♂.
Published (original) locality: “in provincia Orenburgensi”.
Current status.? Andrena (Taeniandrena) afzeliella ( Kirby, 1802) .
Remark. We have not found any specimens from Eversmann’s collection labeled as “ hirticeps ”.
The current status is unclear. Andrena hirticeps Eversmann, 1852 was synonymized by Morawitz (1866: 9) with A. afzeliella ( Kirby, 1802) . According to Warncke (1967: 248) and Gusenleitner & Schwarz (2002: 564) the name Andrena afzeliella ( Kirby, 1802) is a junior synonym of A. ovatula ( Kirby, 1802) . However, ( Praz et al. (2022) consider A. afzeliella ( Kirby, 1802) to be a valid species. Taxonomy of the subgenus Taeniandrena remains unclear and requires further revision.
Distribution. Europe, Egypt, Russia (European part), Caucasus, Turkey, Israel, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iran ( Praz et al. (2022). Distribution in Siberia, Russian Far East, Central Asia and Northwest China is unclear.
