(Figs 11D, 16G)

Derostoma rufodorsatum Sekera 1904: 442 –443.

Phaenocora rufodorsata Graff 1909: 93 View in CoL –94; Hofsten 1911: 3, 8, 10, 32–37, TextFigs 7–8, plate 2 Figs 4, 7–8; Hofsten 1912: 557, 582, 626; Graff 1913: 134, 140–141, Figs 140–141; Nasonov 1917: 1107 –1108; Luther 1918: 49; Luther 1921: 16, 18; Sekera 1930: 100; Gilbert 1935: 284, 294, 296, 318, 343, 352, 355, 357, TextFigs 3Ja, 3Jb, tables 1, 2; Gilbert 1938a: 198; Gilbert 1938b: 209, 216, 218–219; Marcus 1946: 72, 81, 166; Steinböck 1949: 232, 242, 250–251; Luther 1963: 127, 134, Fig. 45, Korgina 2002: table 1.

Known distribution: Tábor ( Czech Republic) ( Sekera 1904), Bohemia ( Czech Republic), lake Geneva ( Switzerland) ( Graff 1913), Finland ( Nasonov 1917; Luther 1918; see Luther 1963 for localities and references), Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Russia (see Luther 1963 for localities and references); upper Volga river basin ( Russia) ( Korgina 2002).

Material examined: None.

Diagnosis: Animals 1–3 mm long. Eyes red, round, kidney-shaped or branched. Zoochlorellae not mentioned in literature. Dorsal pigmentation a medio-dorsal line of variable length, at least present in the anterior part of the body but can occur over the entire body length, in which case the anterior part is somewhat more strongly pigmented. Male copulatory organ of the duplex– type IB; cirrus spines scattered without any recognizable order; small, straight or slightly curved and finely pointed, never very sharply pointed. Additional extremely small denticles are scattered among the spines. Female genital system with a female genital canal and an intestinal bursa. Genito-bursal duct (probably) present, hence of the AGLOBULATA - type or the UNIPUNCTATA - type.

Remark: Gilbert (1935) suggested the presence of a genito-bursal duct since the distal part of what would be the receptaculum seminis is small and contains no sperm (see Hofsten 1911). Whether a connection with the gut exists and whether a burso-intestinal duct is indeed present needs to be clarified on new material.
