Redescription
Adult ( Figure 7B View Figure 7 ). Wingspan 8.5–9.5 mm. Head greyish-yellow to brown, frons greyish-white or yellowish-white. Antenna with scape dark brown on dorsal surface, white on ventral surface; flagellum alternately greyish-brown and dark brown on dorsal surface, pale yellow to yellow on ventral surface. Labial palpus with second segment about twice length of diameter of eye, slightly longer than third segment; first and second segments yellowish-brown on outer surface, yellowish-white on inner surface; third segment white on dorsal surface, brown to dark brown on ventral surface. Thorax and tegula grey to dark brown. Forewing with costal margin and dorsum almost parallel, apex bluntly rounded; ground colour greyish-brown to dark brown; costal margin with oblique yellowish-white stripes from one-third length to middle of upper edge of cell and from two-thirds length to upper angle of cell respectively, bearing three short white streaks in distal one-third; cell with an ochreous-yellow spot near base; longitudinal ochreous-yellow stripe along above upper edge of cell mesially, above spot and stripe not obvious in female; large dark brown mark at two-fifths length of dorsum extending anteriorly and distally to near end of cell, abruptly narrowed mesially, edged with ochreous-yellow along inner and anterior margins, with white along outer margin; faint short ochreous streaks extending from end of cell to above tornus; two terminal fasciae present, inner one silvery white, with metallic lustre, outer one yellow, with a dark brown spot below apex; fringe dark brown except yellowish-white at base of apex. Hindwing and fringe greyish-brown. Fore- and midlegs dark brown except tarsomeres white apically on outer surface, greyishwhite on inner surface; hindleg greyish-brown on outer surface, greyish-white on inner surface. Abdomen grey except greyish-white along lateral sides, at middle of ventral surface and at apex.
Male genitalia
Uncus narrowed at one-quarter length, then broadened gradually, bluntly rounded at apex, with sparse long setae on dorsal surface; slightly shorter than one-third length of valva ( Figure 11B View Figure 11 ). Gnathos about one-third length of valva; culcitula straight posteriorly. Valva shorter than tegumen–uncus complex, slightly broadened from near base to before bluntly rounded apex, with large granules; ventral free lobe slightly protruding, with sparse setae. Vinculum with lobes concave on inner margin near apex, forming a heart-shaped emargination, distal third narrowed toward sharp apex. Saccus subtriangular, acute anteriorly. Aedeagus with basal two-fifths rounded, distal third narrowed gradually to blunt apex, ventral surface chapped distally. Eighth tergite nearly semioval ( Figure 10B View Figure 10 ).
Female genitalia
Anterior apophyses about half length of posterior apophyses ( Figure 14B View Figure 14 ). Eighth tergite with posterior margin nearly straight. Antrum broad posteriorly, narrowed anteriorly, with longitudinal median furrow. Ductus bursae with basal two-fifths slen- der, banded, slightly sclerotized dorsally, distal three-fifths broadened toward spined joint with corpus bursae; ductus seminalis arising from posterior margin of distal part. Corpus bursae long, slightly oblong, about four times length of posterior apophyses, narrowed mesially; signum absent; accessory bursa arising near anterior one-sixth length of left side.

Distribution
China (Anhui, Guizhou, Hainan, Hong Kong, Hubei, Hunan, Xizang, Yunnan), India (North East).
Diagnosis
This species is close to H. rhabduchum (Meyrick) superficially. It can be separated from the latter by the gnathos about three-fifths length of valva, the valva shorter than tegumen–uncus complex, and the subtriangular saccus; whereas in H. rhabduchum , the gnathos is about two-fifths length of valva, the valva is about equal length to tegumen–uncus complex, and the saccus is short digitate ( Clarke 1969b: Plate 177, fig. 3a,b).
This species is newly reported for China.
