( Figs 1 View FIGURE 1 , 22 View FIGURES 20 − 27 , 53 View FIGURES 52 − 53 )

Edosa smithaella Robinson, 2008a: 379 View in CoL .

Material examined. CHINA: Zhejiang Province: 5 ♂, Mt. Wuyan (27°21΄N, 119°55΄E), Taishun, 680 m, 31.vii. 2,4. viii.2005, leg. Yunli Xiao, genitalia slide Nos. XYL05027, XYL08096, YLL10176; 1 ♂, Mt. Wuyan, Taishun, 790 m, 2.viii.2007, leg. Qin Jin, genitalia slide No. YLL10171; 1 ♂, Mt. Jiulong (27°58΄N, 119°38΄E), 400 m, 5.viii.2011, leg. Linlin Yang & Na Chen, genitalia slide No. YLL11123.

Diagnosis. Adult ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 20 − 27 ). Wingspan 17.0−23.0 mm in male. The structure of the frenulum distinguishes E. smithaella from all other known Edosa species: the retinaculum is absent in the forewing and the frenulum resembles a short paddle composed of several fused bristles in the hindwing. The male genitalia ( Fig. 53 View FIGURES 52 − 53 ) are characterized by the uncus lobe twisted basally, contorted and forming a heavily sclerotized, cowl-shaped section on inner side distally, its globular, melanized apex with dense, small nodules; the triangular valva with rounded apex and a plain medial process; the double-walled aedeagus with inner wall tubular, outer wall forming shallow and rounded subapical carinae; the long bulbus ejaculatorius with subdistal section elliptically hypertrophied, distal section hypertrophied and cup-shaped. Edosa smithaella Robinson is similar to E. varians sp. nov. in the male genitalia, but can be differentiated from the latter by the uncus lobe melanized and bearing dense, small nodules at apex.

Distribution. China (Zhejiang), Brunei, West Malaysia.
