Diagnosis. This new species is similar to E. cornuta sp. nov. in facies, but can be distinguished from the latter by the somewhat quadrangular valva with inner surface unmodified, and the thumb-shaped basal flange in the male genitalia, and the eighth sternite specialized to a cylindrical ventral plate and an X-shaped dorsal plate in the female genitalia. In E. cornuta sp. nov., the knife-like valva bears sensillae apically on the inner surface, the basal flange is semicircular in basal 2/3 and rounded in distal 1/ 3 in the male genitalia, and the eighth sternite is not differentiated into two plates, but has a pair of horned processes on posterior margin in the female genitalia.

Description. Adult ( Fig. 45 ). Wingspan 7.5−12.0 mm. Head ochreous yellow. Antenna 0.9× length of forewing, scape dusty yellow, with scattered darker scales above, with a few black pecten bristles; flagellum variegated, dull yellow on ventral surface, dark purplish brown on dorsal surface except first few segments dull yellow, in some specimens, the darker colors faded and thus not obvious. Labial palpus dark yellowish brown on inner surface, dark brown on outer surface. Thorax and tegula blackish brown. Forewing index 0.28−0.3, yellowish brown, distal 1/5 with individual scales dark tipped, forming a bicolored pattern; retinaculum present; cilia brown with darker tips, with three well-defined cilia lines. Hindwing grayish brown to brown; male with a single short, slender evenly curved frenular bristle, female with two slender bristles, shorter one 0.8× length of longer one; cilia yellowish white. Fore leg dark brown; mid femur yellowish brown mixed with darker scales, tibia and tarsus yellowish brown on inner surface, dark brown on outer surface; hind leg yellowish brown, mixed with darker scales on outer surface.

Pregenital abdomen. First tergum without sclerotization. In male, coremata present in eighth segment; eighth sternite 0.25× as long as wide, without caudal process; eighth tergite tapered, without caudal process. In female, seventh sternite deeply concave at middle on posterior margin.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 74 ). Vinculum semicircularly convex on anterior margin, concave at middle on posterior margin; medial process on ventrocaudal margin Y-shaped, 0.5× length of depth of vinculum. Tegumen extremely narrow. Uncus with lobate base separated by membrane; uncus lobe small, short, 0.3× depth of vinculum, not twisted, basal 2/3 expanded, membraneous on inner side, distal 1/3 digitate, setose, slightly bent ventrad; sclerite present between uncus lobes, inconspicuous. Valva somewhat quadrangular, narrowed at base, broadened to obliquely truncate apex; costal margin straight, unmodified on inner surface, bearing dense flattened scales on outer surface; basal flange simple, thumb-shaped, melanized apically, strongly incurved into inner surface of valva in normal state; bridging lobe absent between basal flange and valva; ventral margin oblique, slightly convex ventro-apically, forming hillock-shaped ventral lobe on distal half; basal margin with indistinct triangular, smooth ‘secondary apodeme’ close to ventral margin; inner surface unmodified. Juxta reflexed anteriorly along inner surface of vinculum, about 0.6× length of aedeagus, grooved in dorsal midline, folded laterally. Aedeagus short, 0.5× length of valva, double-walled, broad at base, narrowed to oblique, dorsally concave apex. Bulbus ejaculatorius 7.0× length of aedeagus, subdistal section slightly expanded and curved, distal section expanded, as broad as subdistal section.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 93 ). Ovipositor length 2.5 mm. Eighth tergite nut-shaped, tapered anteriorly, microtrichiate on posterior 1/3, with sparse setae on posterior margin. Eighth sternite specialized into two plates: ventral plate cylindrical, concave at middle on posterior margin, setose laterally; dorsal plate with a sclerotized, more or less X-shaped ridge. Ostium at middle of posterior margin of eighth sternite, between two plates. Antrum absent; ductus bursae 2.0× length of corpus bursae, posterior half narrow, anterior half 2.0× width of posterior half. Colliculum with posterior ring at junction of ductus bursae and corpus bursae, with an hillock-shaped dorsal extension, from which arising a pair of paddle-shaped, apically spinose processes invaginated into corpus bursae to level of second ring; second ring at posterior 1/4 of corpus bursae, with an apron-like ventral extension; a small, separate sclerite placed anterior to apron-like ventral extension; inception of ductus seminalis opposite to apronlike extension of second ring. Corpus bursae narrowed in posterior 1/4, broadened and ovate in anterior 3/4; signum absent.

Distribution. China (Anhui, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan, Hebei, Henan, Hong Kong, Hunan, Shaanxi, Shandong, Taiwan).

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the morphological term uncus, and the Latin suffix -ellus, meaning small, referring to the small uncus lobes.
