Type designation. Syntype specimen of female not found.

Distribution. Brazil.

Note. We were able to locate the jar but unfortunately the specimen was not in the vial. In 1896, F.O. Pickard- Cambridge described the male stating that he did not compared his specimen with the type, but he had no doubt of the identity of F. auricomus with his female from Santarein. He also mentions that “The males have not hitherto been described, but the two obtained on the lower Amazons undoubtedly belong to the females taken at the same time”.
