( Figs 1 View FIGURES 1–7 , 15 View FIGURES 11–20 )

Type material. Holotype: ♁, Vietnam, Cam Lam , Suoi Cat, Hon Ba NR, Yersin, 1500 m, 14.XI.2013, leg. B. Fontaine & O. Gargomini, SMNS . Paratypes. Same data as for holotype, 3 ex. SMNS , 1 ex. IEBH .— Vietnam, Cam Lam , Suoi Cat, Hon Ba NR, Yersin, 1500 m, 13.XI.2013, leg. A. Faille, 1 ex. SMNS .— Vietnam, Khan Hoa , Suoi Cat, Hon Boa NR, 900–1160 m, 19.XI.2013, leg. A. Faille, 1 ♀ SMNS .

Description. Body length 4.0– 4.8 mm, dorsal surface dark brownish with a feeble greenish lustre, legs distictly lighter. Eyes not prominent. Pronotum trapezoid, widest across anterior angles, posterior margin distinctly narrower than the anterior one; with large separated punctures, distance 0.5–3 puncture diameters, a few punctures laterally with long erect setae; surface convex and shining, disc in middle without impression(s), lateral margins distinctly beaded; posterior corners rounded; prothoracic hypomera with similar punctures as on pronotum but without visible setation. Elytra elongate oval with rows of punctures in feeble striae, punctures of rows similar as punctures on pronotum, some punctures laterally and at elytral declivity with long erect setae; intervals with very few glabrous punctures, interval 9 with 5 distinct setiferous pores, intervals convex, external intervals stronger convex and nearly keel-like; surface shining.Apex of elytra prolonged. All femora without teeth or sharp angles. Tibiae simple, without peculiarities. Apicale of aedeagus long triangular with acute apex ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 11–20 ).

Diagnosis. Laena faillei sp. n. shares with L. vietnamica Masumoto, 1995 and L. hystrix Masumoto, 1996 , both from Vietnam, the general body size and shape, the beaded lateral margins of the pronotum, and the unarmed femora. However, in L. vietnamica and L. hystrix the dorsal side is without metallic luster, the punctures of the pronotum and elytra are smaller and denser, nearly all dorsal punctures bear long erect setae, and the elytral intervals are nearly flat. Both mentioned species are described without figures of the aedeagus.

Etymology. Named in honour of my colleague Arnaud Faille (Stuttgart), one of the collectors of the type series.
