Type material. Holotype: ♁, Vietnam, Lai Châu Prov., NW Sa Pa, Tram Ton Pass, Fan Si Pan trail, 1920 m, 25.VI.1973, leg. H. Schillhammer & al., NHMW.

Description. Body length 8.5 mm, dorsal surface blackish without metallic reflection. Eyes prominent. Pronotum cordiform, widest across anterior third, posterior margin distinctly narrower than the anterior one; with separated punctures, distance 1–4 puncture diameters, most punctures with long erect setae; surface convex and shining, disc in middle with a pair of weak impressions, lateral margins distinctly beaded; posterior corners rounded; prothoracic hypomera with similar punctures as on pronotum but without visible setation. Elytra elongate with rows of punctures without striae, punctures of rows larger and denser than punctures on pronotum, punctures with long erect setae; intervals with fine punctures, most with long erect setae, interval 9 with 5 distinct setiferous pores, internal intervals feebly convex, external intervals distinctly convex; surface shining. Apex of elytra prolonged. All femora each with a distinct acute tooth. Tibiae simple, without peculiarities. Apicale of aedeagus triangular with broadly rounded apex ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 11–20 ).

Diagnosis. L. tramtonica sp. n. shares with L. tamdaoensis Masumoto, 1996 the large body size, the cordiform pronotum medially with a pair of weak impressions and with beaded lateral margins, and the femora each with a distinct tooth. However, in L. tramtonica sp. n. the eyes are prominent, the punctures of the pronotum and elytral intervals are distinctly smaller and more separate, and the apicale of the aedeagus has a broadly rounded apex (compare Figs. 11, 12 View FIGURES 11–20 ). L. tonkinensis Schuster, 1926 from Chapa (= Sa Pa) and L. fanjingshanana Ren & Hua, 2006 from China (Guangxi) are also large and have the lateral margins of the pronotum beaded, but the femora are unarmed. In L. fanjingshanana the apicale of the aedeagus is triangular with rounded apex ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 11–20 ), in L. tonkinensis the aedeagus is unknown so far.

Etymology. Named after the Tram Ton Pass, where the holotype was collected.
